About Chris Maxwell

Chris Maxwell, has served over thirty years in pastoral ministry. He writes articles, curriculum, reviews and devotionals for a variety of publications, including Charisma, Today’s Pentecostal Evangel, Issachar File, Enrichment, LIVE, Christian Retailing, Ministries Today, The Orlando Sentinel and many others.

In addition to pastoring, Chris teaches and speaks at colleges, hospitals, ministries and writer’s conferences, serves on leadership teams of two missions organizations, and coached basketball for many years. “A Grandmother’s Touch,” by Traci Mullins (Vine Books, 2001), includes Chris’ story about his grandmother “MamaBee.”

Many read his e-mail devotional, “Another Day Along the Way.”Chris’ demanding schedule and areas of ministry are all the more remarkable in light of his ongoing battle with the lingering effects of a near-fatal brain illness on March, 1996.

Chris was born and raised in Georgia and attended Emmanuel College. He holds a Masters of Divinity. After serving as pastor in Orlando, Fla., for 19 years, Chris Maxwell has moved to Georgia. Chris now serves as Campus Pastor and Spiritual Life Director for Emmanuel College and Writer/Editor for HigherLife Publishing.

His wife Debbie teaches fifth grade at Lavonia Elementary School. Their son Aaron graduated from Emmanuel College and works in South Korea with his wife, Amber. Their son Graham attends Emmanuel and plays basketball. Their oldest son, Taylor, works for missions in addition to playing music around the world. He and his wife Brittany have a wonderful son, Anthem.

In 1996, an unexpected attack of viral encephalitis nearly took Chris’ life. It was the beginning of a long and arduous journey toward recovering the communication and memory skills he’d long enjoyed and suddenly found absent.

God’s amazing restorative power is in full evidence on each page of Changing My Mind as it was in his previous book, Beggars Can Be Chosen. His Christmas gift book, Unwrapping His Presence, helps people face the realities of life during the holidays while remembering the truth of that season.
